CalCopa Massage School: Spreading Wellness Through Community Events

At CalCopa Massage School, the goal is not just to educate aspiring massage therapists but to create a ripple effect of well-being throughout the community. One of the most impactful ways we do this is by offering massage services at local events, fostering a culture of relaxation and self-care for people from all walks of life.

Building Connections and Trust with our Varied Non-Profit Organizations

We are proud of the wonderful organizations we have worked with throughout the years. Run Seal Beach has been our longest partnership; providing post-race massages to their runners and walkers for 20-years. As Charter partners with Angel City Games, we have been growing with the event as they continually add new sports, CalCopa students receive unique opportunities to work with athletes with special needs. The Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County (ESNOC) is a fun-filled fund raiser where our students and alumni give massages to help raise awareness and money for this worthwhile group. Finally, we end each year giving massages to US Masters Swimmers at the Southern Pacific Masters Swim (SPMS) Short-course, Meters Championships.

Bringing Comfort to the Community

Massage therapy is known for its numerous benefits, from reducing stress and relieving muscle tension to promoting overall wellness. However, many people may not have access to therapeutic massages on a regular basis due to financial or time constraints. CalCopa Massage School has taken the initiative to bridge that gap by offering our students the chance to practice and hone their skills while giving back to the community.

By setting up booths at various community events, the school provides free or affordable massages to attendees, introducing the healing power of touch to a wider audience. Whether it’s a quick 10-minute pre or post-event massage, or as a fund-raiser for local non-profit organizations, CalCopa’s presence at these events makes wellness accessible to everyone.

Student Growth and Hands-On Experience

For our students at CalCopa Massage School, these community events offer invaluable hands-on experience. While learning the theory and techniques of massage in the classroom is essential, the opportunity to work with real people in a dynamic environment accelerates their learning. Students practice a wide range of modalities—from Swedish and deep tissue massage to Amma Chair massages, Shiatsu and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) Stretches.

This practical experience not only boosts students’ confidence but also allows them to develop the professionalism and interpersonal skills necessary for their careers and possibly gaining life-long clients along the way. It’s a win-win situation: the community gets to experience the benefits of massage therapy, and the students get real-world practice and exposure.
