As a kid everyone asks you. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I switched my answer every year I was asked, nothing ever really stood out to me.
Everything changed when my friend told me about a wonderful massage she had received. She had been in a car accident a couple of weeks before and was dealing with some whiplash and back pain from the accident. She was tired of taking ibuprofen and to be honest, I was tired of telling her to take it. I remember seeing them the day after their massage and they seemed lighter and more at ease. It was then that she told me about her massage and how it made a world of difference. She swore that she didn’t take an ibuprofen that day. After seeing them groggy and in pain for weeks I was
skeptical that something as simple as a massage could make that much of a difference. She told me I had to go and see for myself, so I booked a massage and I was so wrong.
I, like many others, underestimated the benefits of massage. It was amazing and I was hooked. I went online and began to look up massage schools. I knew this would be my way of helping others in a way where I could see the results and the satisfaction. When I did my research I was shocked to discover at schools like CalCopa I could become a licensed massage therapist in as little as 6.5 months. I began the process of enrolling right away. I am now able to make a difference in people’s lives and the question, “What do you want to do with your life” is no longer scary. I can say proudly, “I am going to be a massage therapist.”
